about the aacb
(continued from home page)
There can be 65-75 members playing at any one of the five to six concerts a season. Interested musicians may contact Conductor Bill Gourley. He plans the instrumentation, selects the music and themes for the concerts.
Two themes occur each summer: Patriotic music, with recognition of each branch of the military and a Children’s Concert, complete with a Teddy Bear Parade. Past conductor Charlotte Owen started the Teddy Bear Parade tradition.
For five or six summer Wednesday evenings, in front of the West Park Band Shell, a variety of people spend time enjoying the music. There will be parents and children, folks of all ages. A dog may be playing catch with its owner. Some bring a picnic supper, others pass through jogging or on bicycles (and stop to listen a bit). Others are glad to sit and relax at the end of a long day.
We hope you will join us this summer!
